Lettre du 28 décembre 1586 (de Rome): "Serenissimo Gran Duca, Signor mio e Padrone perpetuo, ho consignato questo giorno al procaccio una scatola bianca a dove ho messo una bella figura di metallo antica, molti dicano che sia Alessandro Severo imperatore, altri che sia il Tempo, perché ha le ali. Di più sarà dato a Vostra Altezza Serenissima in mio nome, un medaglione greco, di buon maestro, il tutto in segno della continua devozione ch'io porto e portarò sempre mentre che avrò vita all'Altezza Vostra Serenissima [...]" (Firenze, Archivio di Stato, MP 778, c. 553; Barocchi - Gaeta Bertelà 1993, p. 292, note).
