-Letter of 5 Feb. 1647 (from Florence to Rome): "Iam cum Datio nostro communicavi quidquid de nummis Passignani proxime mihi significasti, videlicet te drachmis XII pro qualibet argentea uncia daturum, pro aureis omnibus, supra metalli pondus, scutatos quinquaginta; quapropter iunctim arrepta occasione explorabimus an tali precio ille venumdaturus sit." (Leiden University Library MS BPL 1920, van Cavalcanti no. 2) I have now communicated with our Dati what you recently said to me about Passignano’s coins, namely that you would give 12 drachmae for every ounce of silver, and, for all the gold coins, 50 scudi over their metal weight.
