Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Letter of 1 Dec. 1648 (from Florence to Leiden): "Cum aderit pecunia statim Passigniano pro pretio nummorum suorum persolvetur; qui iam a nobis praemonitus illos paratos habet, et cui iuveris tradet. quantum sollicitudinis contraxeris, quod hujus negotij exitus fortuitae morae accesione fuerit protrahendus et video, et doleo; nihil n. erat te huiusmodi molestia affici, quoniam cum illis tibi res erat, qui fidei tuae candorem noverant, nec penitus ignari sunt, peregrinantibus plurima obici, quae minime evitari queant. Sed de his satis." (When the money comes it will be immediately paid to Passignano for his coins. As now advised by us, he is holding them ready, and will hand them over to whoever you instruct. I can see and I am sorry for how much worry you will feel if the completion of this business may be held back by the arrival of an unexpected delay. It is bad that you are affected by a problem of this kind, since your affairs were with in the hands of people who know the sincerity of your trust and who are not at all unaware of how many things are placed in the way of travellers, which cannot at all be avoided. But enough of these matters) (Leiden University Library MS BPL 1920, van Cavalcanti no. 11 )
