-Lettre du 13 juin 1581 (de Rome) : « Non sò che la medaglia sia quell tanto pretiosa trouata nuouatamente dell’Antinoo, et le dico liberamente non uoglio essere in primo a ricercare l’impronto, perche essendo tanto rara il padrone non la uorrà fare commune. Ma se si facesse, V. S. sà che per sodisfare alla mia curiosità, n’hauerei bisogno d’uno in piombo. La tavola del Bembo uiddi molti anni sono in Padua, et da Moriglione (note : Maximilien Morillon, prévôt d’Aire, un des plus anciens amis de Granvelle, alors son vicaire-général pour l’archevêché de Malines) ne feci fare in carta una copia à penna molto ben fatta et al naturale co’l colore di rame uerniculato d’argento, che m’è stata tolta in Brusselles insieme con i libri, con le medaglie et statue et con quanto ui hauevo, et con le mie scritture et archiuio di quanto per l’Imperatore da me si era scritto, et altre cose rarissime, quà non saria stimata la tauola, perche non l’intenderiano, et saria bene che restasse in Roma o alla libreria Vaticana, o pigliandola Mons.r Ill.me nostro, non uedendo altro là che sia per farui la spesa » (Nolhac 1884, Lettre VII, p. 257-258).
