Lettre du 2 octobre 1690 (de Padoue) : A fake of Scipio Africanus nummus with Carthage submitted: The problem of counterfeit coins was considered very important by Patin who was trying to convince a friend of his to prepare a book of images of these false coins so that collectors would be able to recognize them easily (Padova, Museo Bottacin, MB 855, c. [97] ; voir Callegari 2020).
