-Letter of 26 June 1690 (from Paris): "In quorumdam suspicionem venit aliquando, interceptum a Loyolitis, qui multorum sermone illius causa sic vapulant, maxime vero Harduinius, ad cujus aures nescio quo pacto pervenerunt haec verba epistolarum tuarum ad Pagium et Vaillantium: "In singulis paginis operis mei vapulat Harduinus. Antirrheticum meditabitur cui tamen suas ipsius voces reddam". Stomachum illi moverunt omnino haec verba. Ea est enim [...] hujus ambitio, ut se infallibilem in omnibus plus quam summum ipsum pontificem existimet. Non ita pridem occurrent mihi fortiter apud Menagium, quem alicujus rei causa inviseram, duo societatis hujus viri, qui de opere tuo et de Harduino miscebant sermones cum viro optimo, quibus audacter et animose dixi: ‘Harduinum in re nummaria non admodum versatum, imo rudem omnino et novitium, si cum aliis conferatur’. His verbis cum multa modestia imo et subridendo sic reposuerunt: ‘Haec non putat Harduinus noster'. Sed satis de Harduino et Loyolitis ... Admonebit opus tuum Vaillantio ut flacci faciat Harduinus suumque tandem illi reponere valeat atque audeat" (Pélissier 1903, Lettre VII, p. 196-198)
