-Lettre du 24 janvier 1686 (de Florence): “Epistola, quam primam abs te V. C. accipio, ingenti laudum exaggeratione me obruit, ut non inflatus altius surgam, sed earumdem pondere pressus pene concidam. Intelligo tamen non quis sim, sed qualem me est velis, quod equidem & vota & meas etiam vires excedit. Nummos Erodiadum aliosque cum epigraphis ETOΥΣ NEOΥ IEPOΥ a viginti circiter diebus Sereniss. Magnus Dux sulphure fictos, sive ductos, IIlustriss. Abbatis Gondii opera Parisios transmisit, quos tamen video ex impressis ære figuris eruditissimo Du Cangio notos, equidem alios Medicea Gaza non continet. Lætor autem plurimum eumdem notas in Chronicum Alexandrinum moliri ; nam & ipse modo idem Chronicon examino & expendo, ubi Epocham Antiochenam adhibet ; si quidem volumen adorno de Epochis Syromacedonum, quas haectenus viris eruditis ignoratas, & nuper a Joanne Harduino perperam deductas ex nummis Mediceis Sereniss. Magni Ducis beneficio usus, in optimo lumine collocabo, ac plurium Synodorum annos Baronio falso designatos certis caracteribus indicabo. Hoc enim primum intendo, non autem Antiquariis, seu veterum numismatum studiosis lampadem præbere, licet hoc etiam præstem. Inveni tempus quo Quinctius Varus Syriam regebat ; nam dúo ejusdem nummi Antiochiæ percussum Epocha signata hic meis hisce oculis vidi, ex quibus cognovi me in Cenotaphiis Pisanis Biennii metachronismum peccasse” (Noris 1741, lettre CLXXIII, col. 335-336).
