-Lettre du 2 juin 1741 (de Rome): “Ma questo è stato dato alla galleria Kircheriana, e un altro pezzo senza le parole CASTRIS PRETORI e senza quella di Terentius Cassander fecit, l’ha avuta il Marchese Maffei di Verona, ed Io non potei avere se non il sud.o, che ricevarà dal detto Sig.r Siries colle parole M. OPELLI SEVERI DIADUMENIANI CAES [?]. Ne scritti antichi, o nelle medaglie, non si ha che OPEL in ambidue, li nostri moderni chi ha voluto spiegare OPILIUS, e chi OPELIUS, tra quali è lo Spanemio, il che non [c. 14 v.] averebbe scritto, se avesse veduto il medaglione greco di Macrino coll’Ettore morto, e soldati etc. che Io diedi al Sig.r Card. D. Alessandro Albani, oggi nella Vaticana e publicato colle note del Sig.r Abbate Venuti, nel quale sul nome di Macrino vi sono in greco due lettere ?? onde sono due prove, in latino, e greco”.
