-Lettre du 13 juin 1744 (de Rome): “Godo leggere nella sua affettuosis.a, che la gemma del Mercurio, le sia piaciuta, e per dir vero sono rarissime a trovarsi colli simboli contenutivi e solo non sono rare le altre deità con simboli. Se crede bene di dissertarvi, come a me pare meritevole, per dirvi d’averla donata al solo Sig.r Medico; Già le sarà noto il Tempio di Mercurio, che invece di colonne, ha 4 termini, posto nella sommità dell’estremità del monte Aventino, fra altri riportato dall’Angeloni, e sotto RELIG. AUG etc. Se detti fermini alludino alle 4 staggioni, a me non è noto veda la nota che fa lo Spanemio (Spanheim) De prestantia et usu numismatu pag. 168 infine, sopra a Mercurio che lo fa Apollo vi è, anzi ho al suo commando una medaglia Egizia di Claudio, col rov.o del caduceo fra due spiche di grano può esser l’abondanza, che proviene da Mercurio pacifero.” (Firenze, Biblioteca Marucelliana, ALXII, f° 175r-v – online).
