Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre du 30 mai 1750 (de Leiden) : You can keep the copies of the anthology. Thank you again for the asparagus. I rejoice at what you write about coins, a study to which our people as you rightly complain are indifferent. How I should like to see your treasures; but my Leyden duties (which he describes) forbid my visiting your villa probably till July. Your letter gives a very happy picture of your life there, and my joy was intensified after a drink of two or three cups. May God grant you a happy continuation of this cheerful existence. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 496 fol. 408).
