-Letter of 1 December 1782 (from Vienna): "Eckhel hat das Zutrauen zu mir gehabt mir sowohl die Medaillen als die Edelsteine des Cabinets, welche leztere nicht einmal inventirt sind, zum freyen Gebrauch zu lassen, zugleich seine eignen Papiere, woraus ich in wenigen Monaten mehr Unterricht geschöpft habe als ich in so viel Jahren durch eigne Lekture u.
