Lettre du 25 janvier 1752 (de Mereto): “Bensì più conveniente parebbe che gli sarebbe stata quella di Lirista, o sia di suonator di lira, mentre non con arco o saette, ma con lira in mano in atto di suonarla è stata osservata l’immagine di Beleno sopra una Medaglia riferita da Seldeno De Diis Syris Syntagm. 7; fatta battere da Cunobeleno Re della gran Bretagna, che volle render più augusto il suo nome coll’aggiungerlo a quello di questo Nume. Da questa Medaglia conghietturar potrebbesi, che il culto di Beleno passasse anche nella Bretagna forse dall’Aremorica osia Aquitania, ora [c. 634r] Guascogna, dove Monsig.r del Torre nella sua Dissertazione De Beleno dimostra, che esso culto fiorisse, e donde può credersi, che facilmente passasse nella Bretagna distante dall’Aremorica per non gran tratto di mare.” (Firenze, Biblioteca Marucelliana, BVII, 4, f° 633r-634v – online).
