-Lettre sans date suivant celle de Galland du 7 septembre 1708 (de Deventer) : [réflexions sur la médaille d’Antonin Pie représentant une colonne ; remarques sur une médaille de Caracalla] « J’attends avec impatience la réponse du Père Banduri ; et si j’avais le temps, je l’entretiendrais sur une médaille qui me semble fort extraordinaire, et qui, peut-être, pourrait le servir. Me voilà enfin à votre belle explication d’une médaille des Mytiléniens, et j’approuve tout ce que vous en dites […] Je m’en vais vous entretenir sur quelques médailles qui me semblent singulières, et qui méritent, au moins à ce que j’en puis juger, quelques réflexions. La première est d’Auguste [ …]. L’Abbé Passionei n’est pas encore venu ici, et je ne sais pas s’il est en Hollande. Je crains fort qu’il s’est laissé détourner de son dessein, ou qu’il croit que le chemin est incommode, ce qui pourtant est un grand abus, car on peut venir ici d’Utrecht, par terre, en un jour et demi, et d’Amsterdam, moitié par mer, moitié par terre, dans une nuit et un jour.
