-Letter of 6 Nov. 1696 (from Deventer): "Ja m de Asiarchis et Noecoris (2 ago cum illustri Spanhemio, qui mecum censet eos nondum satis explicatos esse, quique me fecit certiorem sese de iis editurum diatribam, eamque ses mihi (nullo certe meo merito) inscripturum. Et ego quidem existimo inquirendum restare : 1° An Asiarcha unus vel plures creati simul sint ; 2° an illud factum sit singulis annis an vero singulis quinquenniis ; 3° an electi sint in Synedrio ommunis Asiae, an vero a Proconsule ; 4° an potius proconsul ex creatis in Synedrio unum elegerit vel omnes adprobaverit; 5° an qui sese excusare vellet ad proconsulem, vel ab eo adprobatus, vel etiam alias, ad Imperatorem provocare posset ; 6° an omnis generis ludis in communi Asiae praesederit, an vero solis venationibus quas suo dabat sumptu; 7° an Asiarcha fuerit semper simul Apiereus, an vero illoe dignitates in binos saspius fuerint collatae ; 8° Qua? differentia fuerit inter Asiarcham et Apchierea ; 9° an Commune Asiae constiterit etiam ex XIII urbibus non secus ac concilium panionium; 10° an unus idemque potuerit esse Asiarcha et simul Apchiereus; XIII Ionici conventus urbium; 11° an Asiarchae, munus fuerit haereditarium, an vero onus ad hoeredes transierit? 12° quae urbes constituerint commune Asiae, et quae, earum fuerint socia? ; 13° quale Asiarchae munus fuerit praeter editiones venationum?
