Lettre du 20 mars 1727 (d’Aix): Abstract: He regrets that the delivery of the Muscat wine has been delayed. He suggests exchanging a 1603 folio edition of Diodorus which he gathers is sought after in Holland. He has acquired a Hesychius from Florence with MS. notes and an Aldine edition of Stephanus «de Urbibus». Mons. the President offers to send engravings of his collection of medals. Mr. Camuzat has been officially ordered to discontinue his journal as being too lively and too free. He refers in detail to Burmann’s unwarrantably bitter attack an Capperonnier’s edition of Quintilian, which B. extended also to abuse of Camusat, for maintaining that France still possessed serious Greek and Latin scholars, and even to Mr. Matta who had merely furnished Capperonnier with some collations. He proceeds further with sequels to Burmann’s attack on Copperonnier’s Quintilian, especially B’s. taking offence at a letter by Mons. le Clerc for passing lightly over faults in Capperonnier’s edition.
