Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

Lettre du 6 février 1729 (d’Aix): Abstract: He begins with regrets about delay over the consignment of Muscat wine and regrets for O’s. sister-in-law’s untimely death; and with lively hopes that he will give a full account of the rich treasury of medals he has brought back; and if O. is inclined to make a collectors’ cabinet on the model of that of our President’s which is augmented day by day; he (our President) intends to send you a copy of the engravings of all his rarest ones. He proceeds to offer him a vol. of Gudius which he wanted, and the subject of O’s. account with him. He mentions examples of Diodorus which he would be glad to barter; and thinks he has discovered an important treatise among the corpus of those of the jurisconsuls. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 488 f° 105-106).
