-Lettre du 12 mai 1683 (de Londres): en français : He hears from Paris that on a montion only 30 out of 90 Sorbonne professors were in favour of the Pope. «Our» assembly is to pass a resounding resolution. Richelet is to publish letters of principal modern authorities, Scarrin, Marigny, Voiture, Costard. All the royal medals have been drawn, a huge collection. Many sources are mentioned in the letter. He mentions a history of the Emperors from medals; and a life of Trajan. Spon is engaged on a book on medals. Spanheim is to bring out at Amsterdam a work on the Caesars. He refers to Maimbourg engaged in a controversy. He stresses the misery and poverty of the people. He wonders what medals Oxford possesses which could be published. A friend of his has compiled an atlas worthy of the King. [The latter part of this long letter is almost impossible to make out] (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Smith 46, f° 293-294).
