'I have received a letter from foreign parts opening a Treaty, I believe a Russian one, for my medals. Could they be sold for fifteen, or even ten or twelve thousand pounds, neither you or Lady Pembroke, any more than myself, would, I presume, be sorry to see them converted into a freehold Estate, tied up for the family.'
