Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Letter of 25 July 1647 (from Amsterdam to Naples): "Quod in nummis antiquis conquirendis tam bona utaris fortuna, & hoc quoque tibi gratulor. Magno alioqui opus est judicio in distinguendis istis metallis veris a fictitiis, quos magno indies numero procudunt verpi isti Romani, idque tanto artificio, ut saepe etiam peritissimos fallant." (I also congratulate you that you have enjoyed such good fortune in acquiring ancient coins. Everyone needs good judgment in telling those genuine metals apart from the false, which those Roman worms forge daily in big quantities, and they do it with such skill that frequently they take in even the most experienced) (Burman 1727, T. III, Epistola XIV, p. 569-70)
