25 Jan. 1591 (from London): “Quod ad numismata D. Charci, dies hi breviores obstant quo minus ea perlustrem. Ecce duorum nummulorum icones, quorum eos esse judicas? Cum nummo uno aut altero habet ad te literas Petrus James, qui ante dies 8 aut 10 per Zelandium ad vos rediit. Ego nihil jam ago, perlego tantum D. Emanuelis historiam (ortographiam paululum emendans) cujus 6 primi libri hoc bimestre me detinuerunt; lentum me dices et merito, sed quotidiana imo horaria interpellatio in cause est.
