Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre du 1 décembre 1736 (de Hambourg): In this very long packed letter inter alia he rejoices in O’s. effectual final humbling of Fauw in his (O’s.) «Vannus», leaving him not a leg to stand on. The Graevius correspondence, of which he has obtained an additional two volumes, contains letters of many scholars, e.g., Carpsovius, Menagius, Magliabecchi, Nic. Heinsius. ... He mentions Schlaegerus’ commentary on a coin of Alexander the Great, which he accompanied with a conspectus dealing with the inscriptions and coins. Schlaegerus, he goes on to say, failed to obtain the succession to Fabricius’ chair. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 491 fol. 81-82).
