-Letter of 25-27 January 1787 (from Rome): „auf Münzen kann ich mich nicht einlassen“, nur einen Satz weiter dann aber: „Die Gemmen hab ich in Schwefelabdrücken ziemlich studiert, nun muß ich mich noch auf die Münzen werfen und auch über dieses Feld will ich mir bald einen Blick machen"(Giel 2012, p. 101, n° 59; Ehling 2022, p. 462, note 42)
