Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre du 24 novembre 1774 (de Lapal House, West Midlands): He is sorry that he had asked N. to exchange a few of his Roman silver coins with him, but it had been under the idea that N. had declared against making a collection of them. He disparages the coin of Thurium and the idea of adding to his stock of consular coins. His aim is to make his Roman imperial silver more complete: he brings out the point that Greek, consular, and imperial silver coins constitute 3 different kinds of study and would make three very different collections. At present he has no more English duplicates to exchange with N. He queries N’s large silver coin of Galba. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Eng. misc. d. 146, f° 46).
