Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre du 23 sept. 1735 (d’Aynho): Abstract: A very long letter indeed. [...] He mentions Thos. Poster an eloquent Baptist preacher as an awkward problem for the Bp. He wishes d’Arnaud, Wesselingius or Duker could succeed Dr. Tarry in the chair of Greek. Mr. Wise goes on with his commentary on medals. He promises to meet Oudendorp’s request for material towards his collation of Apuleius. Whiston vigorously pursues his English version of Josephus to which many of the bps. have subscribed. He reports conversation illustrative of Whiston as an outspoken character and giving offence to the Abp. of York. Whiston’s two sons are out of their depth in their Armenian projects; and the resulting life of Moses is now finished and so beyond recall or amendment. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 485 f° 253-254).
