28 Oct. 1558 (from Bruges): “Haec ad te aliquanto verbosius scripsi, ne putes nummos tuos a me durius, aut saltem imperitum excipi. Mitto autem ad te duos elenchos numismatum: unum aereorum tuorum, qui restant transfundendi, quos et ipsos postremis tuis pollicitus est, non invitum transmissurum. Alter continet enumerationem plumboerum aliquot nummulorum, quos nuper in tuo musaeo super marginem fenestrae vidi & descripsi. Hos velim per hunc tabularium ad me mittas ; ego curabo ut maturius quam isti ad te redeant. Mitto & exemplaria aliquot numismatum consularium, qui postea meis accesserunt : vereor ne aut nihil aut parum sit operae pretii; volui tamen omnes et neglectissimos mittere, quia saepius vel vilissimus nummus servit proposito. Hos tibi retinebis, uterisque pro re nata ad lubitum. Hubertus noster Goltz habet plusquam CC. Consulares, omnes diversos a meis et exquisitissimos: horum omnium quamprimum bina transfundam exemplaria: mihi scilicet & tibi, quod et te cupere judicavit Hubertus, quanquam et nullo monente id facturus fuerim. Librum illlum Impp. & Caess., cum partibus suis annexis, quem facere institui, intellexi Hubertum tibi monstrasse, & placere initia, non omnino infelicia: ordinem autem imprimis conatus sum autem quam potui proxime similitudinem argumentorum ordinem historiae seriem temporum observare, conaborque exactius, si fieri potest.
