harmony. In my opinion, these were struck by Judas Maccabeus, and all others, both silver and bronze, by Simon Maccabeus, his brother and successor. I have indicated the date of each of them. With respect to the characters on these medals, a view was imputed to me in a journal or in the Biblioteque d'Hollande with which I completely disagree, for I am convinced that they the same as those with which Moses wrote the law.'
