4 Sept. 1636 (from Elewijt): “Non posso passar con silentio che in questo luoco si trovono molte medaglie antiche, la maggior parte delli Antonini di bronzo et argento, et ancor ch’ io non sono troppo superstitioso confesso che non mi parve mal auguro che gli rovescii delle due prime che si trovorono doppo il mio possesso, di Commodo e Marco suo parde, erano SPES et VICTORIA. Mi sono scordato di dire a V. S. d’haver visto in Anvers inanzi la mia ultima partenza un grandissimo volume intitolato Roma sotteranea, che veramente mi parve una gran opera e di molta devotione, rimonstrando la simplicità della chiesa primitive” (Aix, Bibliothèque de Méjanes, M.
