Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

Lettre du 25 novembre 1703 (de Leeds) : He mentions several likely subscribers to L’s. book on what he calls antiquated languages, but points out that we have very few gentry whose curiosity extends to them. He himself reluctantly pleads the many calls on his purse which have precluded purchases or subscriptions. When transmitting to Hickes his Saxon coins for insertion in Sir A. Fountain’s Numismata Saxonica he at the same time put up his whole stock of British coins for L’s. perusal; but unfortunately the figures have been ill drawn except in Plot’s tables. He describes and discusses several of the British coins, one being of Cunobelin. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Ashmole 1817b fol. 150).
