Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre du 1 oct. 1731 (de Messine): Abstract: Complicated suggestions for equivalents to balance purchase of Paruta’s Sicilian voyage which has proved much costlier than expected, e.g., another book or medals. He will use his credit with the Governor to obtain the plan of the amphitheatre of Syracuse. He has a reference to l’Abbé Mongitore. He has discovered that the best method of collecting medals is through the priests and monks. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 487 f° 139-140).
