Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre du 13 mai 1679 (de Londres): Describes the losses Mr. Ashmole had by the fire including a choice collection of seals and all his books. But his chief MSS. escaped, being at Lambeth; also his gold coins and medals. And those books of collections of records were not there and are indeed Lord Hatton’s books. All in all Mr. Ashmole has an incomparable collection of MSS. at Lambeth and all Tradescant’s rarities, which he designs for Oxford. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Wood F. 41, f° 113).
