'I find you still fancy I have quoted Bartholine for my Conjecture abt ye British Coins. He does not treat of that sort of money at all: but, speaking of the Amulets used amongst ye antient Northern Nations, he has an Expression wch I though apposite enough for my purpose; and wch seem’d to illustrate my Opinion. ’Tis in (ye place I quote) his Antiq. Danic. p. 466. You also mistake me if you think I believe these Amulets were made by ye Britains. I evidently affirm yt ‘tis my perswasion that they were scatter’d here by ye Romans; who us’d ym after they came into this Isle, and did certainly make ’em of a different fashion fro’ their ordinary current money, hollow on one side, &c'
