-Lettre du 18 juillet 1705 (de ?): “Sr A. Fountain is designing a more ful and correct Edition of his Numismata; to wch (as I guess by somewhat I have lately seen from him) he’l add those of Carausius and Allectus, two of the most famous of our British Tyrants. But their coins are not so numerous as those of Tetricus, Posthumus, &c. Mr Thoresby of Leedes is picking up Northern Surnames from those Saxon pieces (in his own Collection) which he takes to belong to the Northymbrian Kings. He finds one Thor of York, a mint master, as old as Edward ye Senior’s time and another of ye same Reign [name?] in Edward the Confessor’s Reign” (Bodleian Library, MS Ashmole 1816, f° 540; Burnett 2020b, p. 1607).
