Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

'In your next Letter, let me know what old English Coins you have. Those you want (whereof I have Duplicates) shall be sent by the man who brings Fish-Hooks &c. from Carlisle. He shall also bring you a List of my Scotch Coins; that (when any Doubles of these come to your hand) you may likewise supply my wants. As my leisure will allow, I take great Delight in considering both the Antiquities and the Natural History of my native Countrey. And this is a Diversion which (I have alwaies thought) has a great deal of Duty in it. In the one we are prompted to Actions, great and Glorious, by the examples of our Ancestours. And, by the other, we have refreshing Opportunities of contemplateing both the Wisdome and Mercies of God, which can hardly miss of being a Help to Devotion.'
