Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

-Lettre du 27 juillet 1737 (de Newark on Trent): He urges S. to tear himself away from his abode where he is studying Greek and Roman coins and medals and making drawings to instruct and delight future virtuosos. He will find just as many interesting curiosities if he comes to Newark, and he likens the aldermen, local personalities and their wives to counterfeit classical models in farfetched facetious comparisons, with several bawdy allusions. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Eng. letters d. 33, f° 48, 49).
