-Lettre du 18 oct. 1727 (de Vienne) : « Son bene impiegate le lodi, che avete date nel giornale all’opera dei medaglioni pisani. S’io fossi stato per altro in Venezia avanti la pubblicazione di essa, vi avrei fatti ammendare molti gravi errori corsin elle leggende, massimamente greche, dei medaglioni. Di più non avrei lasciato che si attribuisce nella tavola XIX un medaglione che è di Faustina juniore, moglie di Marco Aurelio, a Faustina seniore, moglie di Antonino Pio, battuto in Tiana. Di più avrei avvertito, che tutti i medaglioni che si assegnano a Constanzo Cloro, padre di Costantino, sono fuor d’ogni dubbio di Costanzo juniore, figliuolo di Costantino. Ma al fatto non v’è riedio, e ‘l parlarne adesso sarebbe un far dispiacere a quel dignissimo senatore » (Zeno 1752, lettre n° 251, p. 497-498).
