Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".

Lettre du 19 septembre 1702 (d’Edingburgh): Thanks him for his letter telling of «what remarkables occurred in his spring journey to London». Has had the honour of meeting»some of those learned and curious gentlemen»; seen Dr. Uvedale’s famous garden; met Pettiver and hopes to be put in touch with Sloane, and to get medals from him. Would like to know Buddle, foremost expert in grasses and mosses. Has received from R. well packed box of fossils and ancient coins of gold, silver, brass. Will send R. by a friend (not carrier) the sweet smelling stone;fossils; Scotch coins; to be left c/o a druggist in York. Would like R. to buy for him Roman and Saxon coins and asks for a list of the Scotch ones he already possess. This letter is given in «Richardson’s correspondence». (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Radcliffe Trust c. 1, f° 92).
