8 Dec. 1715 (from Liège): “L’autre est une belle améthyste laquelle représente l’empereur Auguste offrant une victoire au dieu Mars. Elle me servit passé environ 8 ans pour prouver que du temps dudit empereur, il y avait eu des médailles où Mars le vainqueur se trouvait représenté, et cela contre ce que le savant Gronovius avait avancé dans ses notes sur le Monumentum Ancyranium en son livre intitulé Memoria Cossoniana Lugd. Bat. 1695” (Paris, BnF, Fonds français F 17705, f° 142v).
