25 Nov. 1721 (from Paris): “L’empreinte que vous m’avez envoyée est rare et singulière et fera honneur à mon livre. Vous avez bien fait de ne point hasarder de la tirer en cire d’Espagne. J’ai vu d’excellentes pierres cassées par la chaleur du feu. Mais comme la carte n’explique qu’imparfaitement un si beau monument, j’accepte l’offre obligeante que vous me faites de me l’envoyer en plâtre ou en cire ordinaire. On les tire à Rome avec du souffre teint en rouge ; mais tout le monde n’a pas ce secret” (Capitaine 1855, no. 19).
