5 August 1726 (from Paris): “Outre la médaille de Prusias, roi de Bithynie, dont la tête a été frappée sur la joue d’Apollon, j’en ai acquis une autre qui est unique au jugement de tous les connaisseurs. C’est une médaille de moyen bronze de quelque fils de Macrin, un des tyrans qui du temps de Gallien déchirèrent l’empire romain. Elle est grecque et a pour revers l’amphithéâtre de Nicée. J’en ai encore acquis trois autres qui ne le cèdent guère aux précédentes. Elles viennent toutes de l’Orient” (Capitaine 1855, no. 37).
