Lettre du 3 juillet 1727 (de Marseille): He has not been writing because he thought O. would not wish to be troubled with letters while on his journey, but he greatly enjoys O’s. letter telling of his enquiries into the ample supplies of good books and MSS. He congratulates him on his find of a MS. of Phaedrus, and having thereby corrected certain passages he has observations to make. He points out that Sicily is a rich and largely untapped field for research in the curiosities: he would be glad to acquire some of them but cannot offer O. any equivalent from this corner of the world. He has acquired Philo in Tarnebus, some of them spurious. He would be glad to receive from O. anything in the way of books or medals. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 487, f° 56-57).
