-Lettre non datée (1703 ?) : « Sareste attonito, Muratori se sapeste le frascherie che sortono in Parigi in materie nummarie et erudite. Levatone il P.re Harduino, ed altri, vel duo, vel nemo il restante camina alla cieca. Non vi dico altro, dopo due anni e mezzo di studio assiduo, in quel gran mondo mi si dava credito di saputo, sed non ego credulus illis. Ho approfittato, è vero, et ho tanto di capitale di non stampare inezie simili a quelle che vedere » ; le jeune Mezzabarba préfère avoir des échanges avec les Hollandais et les Anglais qu’avec les Français (BEUMo, Archivio Muratoriano, 72, 10, c. 27-28 ; voir Missere Fontana 2000, p. 201, note 162).
