Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
-Lettre sans date: After explaining that his father’s death had delayed his receipt of G’s. letter and his reply he devotes his letter to a very detailed historical note (amounting to a treatise) on the «Ectypus rarissimae Gemmae» which he returns to G. showing Augustus seated in a chariot with Livia, with Octavia on one side, her son Marcellus on the other; several queries are discussed. He delves into overwhelmingly recondite numismatic sources of reference (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 477 fols. 17-18).
