-Lettre sans date (de Londres): He complains that printers and booksellers are piled up with foolish stuff and wishes they would return to sanity and turn their attention to bringing out your Ovid at last and no longer deprive the public of such like delights; and would that Brenckmann would curb the mad license of the mischief making book shopmen. I am very much impressed with the Earl of Pembroke’s collection of coins and books: he showed me over his treasures with great courtesy and most instructive comments. I shall be viewing the Duke of Devonshire’s coins, and have already inspected other collections of antiquities. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 490, f° 20-21).
