Lettre du 21 mai 1710 (de Dijon) : « Et cette preuve me paraît plus forte, que celle qu’on tirerait des inscriptions, ou des médailles, dont il y en a une infinité de supposées » ; « Or il ne nous reste aucune inscription, ni aucune médaille grecques de ces siècles reculés, sur la vérité desquelles on puisse compter.
