10 Febr. 1583 (from Bruges): “Intellego ex Huberto nostro esse tibi in animo Aegypti quoque tabulam exhibere, quod tuum institutum non possum non vel exosculari, cui tabulae non minus cum gratiae tum ornamenti accedet ex iis quae tu tamquam emblemata quaedam ex antiquis Aegiptiorum aut aliorum numismatis opportunè et suo loco inserere decrevisti, uti Nili et ipsius Provinvciae Aegipti ex antiquis monumentis simulachra, cui addit possunt et alia his similia (quae et ipsa in nummis spectantur) Hippopotamus scilicet, Ibis avis, Cijnocephalus, Apis bos, Canopus, Sphinx, Crocodilus, Papirus atque alia quae huic regioni pecularia sunt.
