Grand documentOriginal passage from the "Grand document".
-Lettre du 14 juin 1728 (de Messina) : Abstract : He would have replied sooner but he has been engaged in touring Malta with Lord Lovelace and two other English gentlemen. As to medals, he announces that he has several bronze and silver ones for him and will send them when his friends have arranged the price of certain others. Reimbursement can be through the Amsterdam bank or by way of a «gallantry» for his (C’s.) mistress. He encloses a copy of a Greek inscription of Father d’Alicata. Madame Hampson wishes to thank O. for his attention to her commission. (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 487 f° 94-95).
