-Lettre du 15 mai 1789 (de Londres): “ Je ne puis me refuser, mon cher ami, à profiter du depart de deux Anglois de ma connoissance, pour me rappeller à votre souvenir, à votre amitié; et de solliciter en meme tems de votre complaisance, de vouloir bien leurs etre utile. Ces messieurs se nomment Mr. Price, et Mr. Knight, voiagent uniquement par amour pour les beaux arts, et ne m’ont parus indignes de vous etre presentés. Le premier s’occupe principalement des antiquites, medailles grecques etc. etc. etc. L’autre est un amateur zêlé de la peinture. Je vous aurois une obligation infinie, si vous voulez bien leurs etre utile, dans leurs recherches, en leur donnant des renseignements et des recommendations principalement à Van Damme en Amsterdam ».
