-Lettre du 14 sept. 1726 (de Paris) : If he had known he was going to Montpellier he would have introduced him to H. Bon, president of the chamber of accounts, who has a chest of ancient monuments. At Aix O. is sure to have seen Mon. le Bret’s splendid collection of medals. He is glad that O. has developed a taste for medals, but warns him against getting taken in. He recommends him when at Rome to address himself to Signor Francisco Palazzi, trader in medals: it is a pity Antonio Sabbatini is too old. He exclaims against Burmann’s unimaginative insolence in his reply to Caperonnier over his edition of Quintilian, including the whole French people in his contempt. He is sending a letter of introduction to Muratori so that O. can have free access to the Ambrosian library at Milan (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS D’Orville 487 f° 43).
