12 Oct. 1590 (from Brussels): “Quod desit Nigriniani numus et fascinus, adhuc doleo; fidem invoco et testor, non reperisse, sed neque (quod admiror magis) involverum aut cucullum. Si id contigisset primis diebus certius stramenta discussissem. Nam post tuam monitionem etsi diligentissime et ex fide id fecerim, heu nimis serò. Itaque pro initia nostra, communique cum nostro Winghio amicitia, expostulo mi Orteli, de fide et diligentia nihil dubites et me ut cepisti mutuo ames.” (Den Haag, Koninklijke Bibliotheek, MS 79 C 4 (110), f° 28; Hessels 1887, no. 188, p. 453).
