-Lettre du 7 octobre 1783 (de Den Haag) : « Ma chère Diotime, j’ai devant moi une collection de camées et de pierres gravées, rangées et montées avec toute la propreté possible, que Millioti vient de m’apporter. Je vous proteste en honneur que je n’en voudrois aucune pour rien. J’exepte un camée qui represente le patriarch Joseph et ses frères du 15me siècle. Vous jugez que ce n’est pas tout à fait du Grec, mais il y a des têtes d’un fini admirable. Il paroit que les pierres antiques même mediocres ont disparues de la surface de la terre.
